Background

Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital has been serving Nevada County since the 1930s and is part of the Dignity Health Network that spans and connects hospitals across Northern California. Throughout its history, Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital has successfully provided quality and innovative healthcare for Californians, with additions such as the Cancer Center, Transitional Care Unit, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and a state of the art outpatient rehabilitation and ambulatory care center.

Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Cancer Center was awarded designation as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.

Cancer Treatments

Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Community Cancer Center individualizes treatment plans for its patients. Patients are first accurately diagnosed with CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, X-ray, and/or ultrasound technologies.

Once the cancer has been characterized, the Community Cancer Center offers medical and radiation oncology services. Patients have access to clinical trials and enrollment is six times higher than the national average. The Community Cancer Center has ACR-ASTRO accreditation for performing radiation oncology, a service designed to both treat and/or alleviate a cancer patient’s pain. A Siemens Primus Linear Accelerator delivers the radiation and it is capable of administering Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). Specialized, patient-centered care is provided through services including nutrition, chemotherapy, counseling, oncology focused physical rehabilitation, and access to a variety of clinical trials, many of which are sponsored by the National Cancer Institute.
