Background
Hall-Perrine Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center was established to specialize and devote a thoughtfully designed wing of Mercy Medical Center to cancer care. As early as the 1950s, Mercy Medical Center was in the forefront of hospitals offering oncology services. Mercy Medical Center was the first hospital west of the Mississippi River to offer cobalt-beam radiation treatment. Decades of patient-centered services have allowed for Mercy to treat thousands of patients each year.
Mercy Medical Center and Hall-Perrine Cancer Center has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and accolades, including the accreditation by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Care, QOPI certification for delivery of clinical oncology services, and has been rated in the top 100 hospitals based on female patients’ satisfaction by WomenCertified.
Mesothelioma Treatments
Hall-Perrine Cancer Center is situated to offer the latest research developments and personalized care to provide improved cancer treatment options. Each patient is assigned a Nurse Navigator, who helps them with facilitating care, treatments, support, and education throughout the healing process.
With regard to mesothelioma, the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center organizes teams of highly skilled staff to facilitate mesothelioma treatment. After referral or diagnosis by a primary care physician, a team of pathologists, surgical and medical oncologists, thoracic surgeons, nurses and social workers will handle a case together.
Hall-Perrine Cancer Center partners with the Mayo Clinic to deliver world-class clinical trials and cutting-edge treatment techniques. Hall-Perrine Cancer Center is part of the Cedar Rapids Oncology Project (CROP), a non-profit organization that coordinates clinical trials in the Quad Cities area to expedite enrollment in clinical trials at NIH Tier 1 Medical Centers such as the Mayo Clinic and Wake Forest University. Several specific, innovative treatments are being used in addition to the comprehensive cancer treatments listed below.
