Dr. Blakely is a surgical oncologist specializing in peritoneal surface malignancies and soft tissue sarcomas. Primary focuses of his research include improving surgical treatment and ex vivo tumor modeling of gastrointestinal stromal tumors; validating ex vivo peritoneal tumor treatment models in the pursuit of personalized HIPEC; and developing novel treatment approaches to mucinous and non-mucinous peritoneal carcinomatosis. His areas of expertise include peritoneal carcinomatosis from colorectal, appendiceal, ovarian, and other histologies; peritoneal mesothelioma; and soft tissue sarcomas including gastrointestinal stromal tumors 4) gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.
