Jersey City Medical Center
Founded in 1882 by the Board of Alderman of Jersey City, Jersey City Medical Center has remained as the top hospital in Northern New Jersey for innovative healthcare. As early as the1930s, Jersey City Medical Center was recognized by Franklin Delano Roosevelt as one of America’s top hospitals. It is located on a 15-acre campus adjacent to Liberty State Park and is accessible by PATH rail, light rail, and NYC ferries. The hospital is the region’s designated trauma center and is the only institution in Hudson County to offer advanced surgical procedures such as open heart surgery. Jersey City Medical Center is a teaching hospital and affiliate of Mount Sinai School of Medicine and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Cancer Treatments
Jersey City Medical Center offers chemotherapy, radiation oncology, and surgical oncology for treating cancer. Each patient’s case is unique and specialized cases such as mesothelioma may benefit from the hospital’s affiliate, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, which treats mesothelioma regularly.
Jersey City Medical Center has ACR-ASTRO accreditation for performing radiation oncology, a service designed to both treat and/or alleviate a cancer patient’s pain. Specialized, patient-centered care is provided through services including genetic counseling, oncology focused physical rehabilitation, and access to a variety of clinical trials, many of which are sponsored by the National Cancer Institute.
