Background
The John Stoddard Cancer Center at Iowa Methodist Medical Center was established in 1991. John Stoddard, a local philanthropist, donated $4 million to the Des Moines hospital to combat the rising prevalence of cancer. John Stoddard Cancer Center, as part of Iowa Methodist Medical Center, is the flagship cancer care facility of Iowa Health – Des Moines.
John Stoddard Cancer Center has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and accolades, including the Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center in complex and rare cancers, the Department of Health and Human Services Medal of Honor for Outstanding Organ Donation, and accreditation by the American College of Surgeons.
