David L. Bartlett, MDDr. Bartlett is Chief of Surgical Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Cancer Center. He has expertise in treating peritoneal mesothelioma and other carcinomas that occur in the peritoneal region.  Dr. Bartlett focuses his research on developing new treatment methods for patients who have cancer in the peritoneal cavity.  He specializes in regional therapeutics, delivering chemotherapy directly to the blood vessels leading to a tumor.  He has also helped to develop a treatment technique that delivers chemotherapy directly into the peritoneal cavity for patients with localized malignancies in that cavity, including those related to mesothelioma.

Dr. Bartlett received his medical degree from the University of Texas. He completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a fellowship in surgical oncology from the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He is board certified in general surgery.

Dr. Bartlett has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. He is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Medical Association, the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Gene Therapy, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Surgical Association.
