Background
Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Foundation at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has been serving Arkansans in Little Rock and surrounding communities since the early 1970s.
UAMS has won accolades such as the US News and World Report’s ” Best Hospital in the Little Rock Metropolitan Area” award and received in 2007 by the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers the “Hospital of Choice Award.”
UAMS is an accredited program certified by the Commission on Cancer Care of the American College of Surgeons.
Cancer Care
UAMS is one of only seven hospitals in Arkansas accredited by the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer. The Mercy Cancer Center has a highly trained staff including board certified cancer specialists and nurses certified in chemotherapy, gamma knife perfexion, lymphedema, medical oncology/hematology, Mohs micrographic surgery, radiation oncology, robotic surgery, stem cell transplantation, surgical oncology, and TomoTherapy.
